Juice Works: Tofu Magic

If you couldn't tell what the image below is, then you better read up here and here
Anyway Juice Works has done it again, with the introduction of its new drink this summer. It is not just any ordinary fruit juice / smoothies but it is a healthtilicious cup of goodness, this I can promise :)
I ordered mine from 1 Utama momentary ago and never did I expect there was a long queue at the counter.  Not sure what others ordered but one thing for sure, they had opted for an healthier option to a healthier lifestyle despite being spoiled by choices available there.
The finished artwork of Tofu Magic is as shown above,  pretty plain in color and presentation. Texture wise it has this very thick (coming from Banana) and crunchy (crunched iced). It has a good blend of sweetness from the fruits as well as from the ice-cream. The banana tend to overwhelm other mixture in this blend and sip after sip I interestingly found the presence of tofu. Half way through my healthy cup of Tofu Magic, I actually thought I tasted soy milk, and it could be easily explain as tofu is made of soy milk after all. It truly offered that magical taste and I personally love it very much although my usual preference would be mango. Tofu Magic is priced at RM12.95 for Midi Size and RM13.95 for Power Size.
If you aren't Juice Works VIP member yet, do apply now. Only then you can enjoy a 50% (+10% if you bring your own Juice Works tumbler) off your favorite drink on every Wednesday from 5PM - 7PM. Now there's no excuse not go to healthy.
There's more, you can also enjoy drinks at RM5 but it is only available at Juice Works2Go at Tropicana City Mall. With all the tempting offer and punch that one should not refuse, you have every reason to start grabbing one. I used to be lazy to eat fruits and juice / smoothie is the best way to make me or anyone like me consume and crave for more goodies like this.

Astro Explorer-On-The-Go

- Best part during the event
- How I foresee myself utilising Astro On-The-Go

What is Astro On-The-Go? It is a portable app that allow you to view your favourite channel, TV programme, live matches or even blockbuster movie on the ease of your finger tip. Astro On-The-Go is not only available to Astro subscriber, in fact this cool service is open to everyone from as low as RM10!
In conjunction with its awareness campaign, Nuffnang collaboratively invited 50 bloggers from its community not only to witness the very happening event, but also to a on ground challenge where every team will be contesting against other team to grab their hand on the spanking new Samsung Galaxy S4 and other very demanding gadget like iPad Mini, Nexus 7 and ca$h!
If that didn't make you regret missing out such great opportunity, this definitely would! There were also lucky draw, most tweet contest, and artist appearance on that particular day, and wait, the good drooling list doesn't stop there, those who attended the 'quest' get a second opportunity to win some most wanted gadget from the post-blogging contest too! Now you can goto your preference corner and sob.
So flash back to last Saturday 18 May 2013, participant started to gather around the registration counter patiently to 'check-in' so that their name is confirm for the lucky draw, and also to find out their randomly drawn partner. My initial partner is Sharatul Salma Otham from http://drawcolorcreate.blogspot.com but because she couldn't make it, I was reassigned to team with Chin Wan Jing from http://ridleyjing-life.blogspot.com.
While waiting for the green light, everyone was busy trying to familiarise themself with the iPad given so that there's no unwanted interruption during the quest. Everyone say hi to my team mate, Wan Jing.
The quest is similar to treasure hunt where Wan Jing and I have to guess the location where the marshals are in order to complete all 10 of them. Although clue were given, Wan Jing and I was not familiar with Sunway Pyramid thus we took several long path just to get to the place we want. Felt bad to Wan Jing because she tried to keep up with my unusual pace, not only she sweat alot but also had body ache due to the quest.
Astro Hua Hee Dai Station
Astro Disney XD Station
Astro Ria Station
Astro Champions League Station
Astro Discovery Station
Astro Animax Station
We manage to complete the quest at a very slow pace of 1 hour+ but we both were satisfy and happy that we actually manage to complete it, and these are the photo taken in each station. Guess what, I always love cosplay but never dare to put one on, that's why I especially enjoy posing with with the anime cosplayer there. The best part however is of course having an [A]lways [S]upporting [T]eammate, [R]eally [O]bligate to finish the quest at whatever it takes.

After the challenge, all 50 bloggers were treated to not just any ordinary meal, but were invited to dine in delicious for lunch. Not only Astro is generous with the prize, but they also took care of our tummy too. As most blogger, we have to feed our camera first before feeding ourself.
I had a fun filling dining experience with all the bloggers there and not forgetting an adventurous hunt with Wan Jing too. After the delicious meal, all 50 of us head back to the concourse area to catch artist appearance while waiting patiently for the result to be tabulate.
The crowd were entertained by some really good performance, which then following my on stage game, and last but not least some dramatic scene from movie that is available with Astro before stars making appearance on stage where you least expected it.
Scene from JODOH
Scene from Oz The Great And Powerful
Scene from Pearl Harbor
Scene from Chinese Drama
Oh My English Star Appearance
I better stop here cause there's a handful or performance and surprise appearance that day and if you wish to view it all click here to watch my recording. After all that, and a good minutes of entertainment on stage it is time to announce the result. Here's a short clip for the live announcement and prize presentation on stage.

I get to learn alot more about Astro On-The-Go during the challenge, and also found out that the drama / movie / programme that I always wanted to watch are there, ready to be stream with just a touch from my finger tip. Among the highlight are

  • Disney’s Wreck-it Ralph
  • Raja Lawak
  • MasterChef Selebriti
  • Jodoh
  • Oh My English
  • Pearl Harbour
  • Alice in Wonderland
  • The Thieves
  • CZ12 (Jackie Chan)
  • Hua Hee Everyday
  • Empresses in the Palace
  • Jang Ok Jung
  • TLC’s Cooking Challenge
  • Discovery’s Survival Skills
  • UEFA Champions League
  • UEFA Europa League
  • Barclays Premiere League
  • PGA Tour: Golf
  • Romantika

and the list continues. Seriously there are more programme that you can watch where you'll be complaining that 24 hours isn't enough for you anymore. These are not just any typical programme but programme that could educate the young, bonding the family, and max out the fun time hanging with friends. Fot more you can find out here http://my.astroonthego.com/marketing/en/home

Overall, what is there not to be like during the event? I get to know more friends, CATCH UP with those who I've not seen for months like Tian Chad, Anuar and a handfull of others, and not forgetting a memorable experience with all the fun people you could ever come across to. There's one hidden feature Astro On-The-Go has to offer and I'm gonna quietly share with you how I foresee it could play an important role in my life. With Astro On-The-Go, I can magically turn red light into green light, cutting short my wait time.
Admit it, those who didn't abide to the law will know what it mean. OK joke aside, with Astro On-The-Go I can stop my personal trainer service at the gym because now I have my very private trainer right there in my room, if you get what I mean

As such I can't give lame excuse for not getting myself slim and fit, except maybe for this
I too can watch movie that I did not manage to win invitation to the premiere screening with Video On Demand (VOD) and best part being typical Chinese is where I can gather friends who wanted to watch the same title can charge them a whooping fee of RM2 each. Some called me stingy, but I consider myself a hero for taking lead to help save electricity
On special occasion, like during my GF birthday, I can secretly learn to cook some easy to cook but look astonishing dish (like take home chef) for her without her knowing it even if I watch the programme in TLC with her.
I may not be a fan of all these TV drama / series, but my partner is, and it is frustrating that everytime she watch a drama / series on her mobile, the app (using P2P technology) eat up all the bandwidth, resulting me not able to access the Internet.
Thank God Astro On-The-Go doesn't take up all the bandwidth and we can both watch our favourite programme separately without having the lag. Asto offered a wide range of drama / series ranging from local to oversea like Hong Kong, Korean, China, Taiwan, US, and etc, also from Malay to Chinese to English. There's just something for everyone!

I Am The Unstoppable Explorer

Honestly, who here have time for TV when we have the internet. Even those who subscribed to satellite services might no longer spend much time in front of the TV anymore, not because the programme suck but is due to the highly addictive technology we had that is way more convenience than what TV had to offered. Being an Unstoppable Explorer myself, I never stop venturing into new adventure, trying out new stuff and trying too hard capturing each and every activity that I attended.
Beside hiking mountain, conquering the sea, or maybe campaign in the dark forest hoping ghost doesn't exist, I actually gate crush venture into some other 'adventure' like going behind the wall on how 4D number is being drawn. I always had the why and how question mark in my head, thus the only best way to my question is to actually be there and heard.
In my recent adventure to Kijal Terengganu, the entire group did not know what to do after dinner as there weren't much night activity as we used to had / enjoyed in KL / city area. With quick thought and a combination of some known skill, we immediately turn out smartphone camera and smartphone camera light into art drawing, and I must admit we did had tons of money can't buy memories.
In all these years of exploring, Astro On-The-Go did play and important impact in keeping my adventure lively. I can always watch my fav programme while waiting for that perfect photography moment like sunrise and I do always get my inspiration from it too. One of the thing I love Astro On The Go as a guy is that I can watch football match live without scarifying the explorer in me.

Sunway Lagoon - Vuvuzela

Sunway Lagoon’s latest attraction which is also the world’s largest water ride occupies 3,360-meters (three times of the size of a Olympic standard swimming pool) of the water park. From a launch tower an incredible eleven stories (30-meters) high, the Vuvuzela plunges you through a ride that spans 152 meters, designed to resemble riding rapids on a turbulent river, before mercilessly plummeting you into the world’s largest water funnel, 22meters in diameter which also sits 4 meters above the ground.
The Vuvuzela also comes equipped with its own elevator, which takes rafts up to the launch deck. The rafts are 6-seater rafts and riders will sit in them and splash down the ride. Each ride will allow riders to experience up to 5 thrilling oscillations in the world’s largest water funnel before being shot out back into the enclosed flume. The ride will then end in Vuvuzela’s splashdown pool. The Vuvuzela is designed for riders to experience zero gravity, caused by the swinging to opposite sides of the funnel to reach the apex of the ride.
Now did that scare you? Better not, cause Nuffnang is about to treat you to a wholesome money can't buy experience! You can get the details here http://blog.nuffnang.com.my/2013/04/30/the-vuvuzela-challenge-take-on-the-worlds-largest-water-ride/

I would definitely love to join Nuffnang for a bloggers' day-out at Sunway Lagoon so that I could record how each and every of your favourite blogger scream during the ride. Speaking of scream, to eligible to receive that invite, I'm suppose to record a short clip of me screaming but my first attempt failed cause half way screaming, dad came and ask if everything is ok -.- so here's my polite scream version instead.

Bird Nest Palace

When I first heard about a eatery place named Bird Nest Palace, can't help but wondering what kind of food they serves, what's more when I found out they are actually serving steamboat. Eventually I set my expectation to have a bird nest soup base on my dining experience there.
Strategically located at Damansara Perdana commercial centre and it is just opposite Tropics Mall / KK Mart. They are even having a promotion (as of 1st May 2013) of RM36.90 for 2 pax steamboat set.
From the main entrance, it has this very Chinese ancient theme / deco and it does feel classy like a VIP. The inner dining area is however very jungle / forest set-up which is of course refreshing and soothing, like totally separated from the hectic world.
Moving on, the soup base I had that day was actually herbal soup and tomyam, they do have "Ma La" (Extra Spicy) soup base to choose from too. Do note that they don't serve individual pot here and everyone would be sharing the same pot.
The photo above shows the complete set you'll get on the promotion set of RM36.90 and as seen, you get more of fishball based along with squid, slices of fish, and prawn among other ingredient like fish noodle, mushroom, needle mushroom, tofu, assorted fishball / crab stick, sotong ball, fucuk and ton of cabbage.
There were also very limited condiment to go along with the food shall you need to boost the flavor. The herbal soup is pretty tasty on its own and guess it is safe to say that it wasn't MSG soup as I did not felt thirsty hours after consuming it. The Tomyam soup however were pretty mild in taste, not that spicy, and were full with residual that annoy my dining experience.
You may also order some side dishes as shown above and unfortunately I don't have the price range with me. Everything seem pretty ordinary and nothing special right up to this moment except for that abalone slice, it is very sweet and chewy like the texture of meat. Can't stop but to help myself with few slices of it to satisfy my crave.  So why the name bird nest you may ask? Well the owner of Bird Nest Palace actually have been actively operating bird nest business. They may want to look into improving the steamboat set, not that it wasn't good, just that it wasn't outstanding enough to attract returning customer / attention. The only thing you can't find elsewhere is that you get to enjoy a warm and hearty pot of bird nest as dessert, provided you're willing to pay extra for that.
BIRD NEST DESSERT - RM40
BIRD NEST DESSERT - RM40
The Bird Nest Dessert cost RM40 per bowl and the price can be justify by the authentic process of preparation and the already pricey bird nest as part of the ingredient. In case you aren't aware, there are seller that use bleach to wash the bird nest so that it have the clean white look. Thankfully Bird Nest here is 100% breed and produce in-house, using only clean water to wash and finest cooking method to preserve the goodness like it should.

You will also notice the place is 'decorated' with bird nest and for a pace of mind, it is best to get your authentic & harm free bird nest here.
