Side Effects

Was suppose to attend Finding Mr Right in MBO Viva Home but manage to score myself invite to Side Effects at GSC Mid Valley again from Red FM.
A young woman's world unravels when a drug prescribed by her psychiatrist has unexpected side effects. There were however some pretty sick twist behind everything and I just don't know how to put it into word without giving out the spoiler.
The doctor (staring Jude Law) and patient relation somehow got haywire and nope it is not romance that caught between them but something else. Everything else was pretty screw up when the patient's husband was murdered and the reason was due to the side effects of the pill that the doctor gave.

The Croods

The Croods bring the audience back to an era similar to The Flintstones where every new thing spark a debate among the family member. Was invited to attend the premiere screening in 3D on Tuesday night at GSC Mid Valley
The Croods family was forced out of their cave due to some disaster and had to go on a road trip with a Guy they newly met to escape what Guy believe to be end of the world.
The journey of course wasn't smooth as expected and it was a journey of their life that strengthen the family bond and widen their perspective through new discovery. The CGI of the movie is pretty cartoonist, and gone were the days where these animation focus on every single detail on the character. 3D wise, it went pretty OK but not to the extend of awesome. Definitely a family oriented movie.

Fresh Code

Got an invitation from Foodirector.com to a fan gathering at Fresh Code located in the heart of Damansara Utama (aka Uptown) last Saturday at 2PM. So what is Fresh Code?
Fresh Code is a health concern, fresh fruit beverage cafe that is modern and offer a soothing environment for that relaxing and pampering moment after a hard day on work. Their aim is to provide safest, healthiest & yet joyful juice that is refreshing and tasty at the same time. Let's take a look at the inner interior of Fresh Code.
Upon stepping into the shop, you will notice a money changer at your left while the ordering around on the right. First impressing when I stepped in is that natural and soothing feeling and it is exactly like I'm stepping in a garden / farm.
A fridge storing assorted flavor of sorbet can be spotted at the main entrance.
Price and menu are shown on the back wall of the counter and it is clear and straight forward. You get to know what are the fruits that would be blended in the drink you ordered.
Just slightly beside the cashier, there's another fridge with chilling and colorful thirst quenching juice bottle sitting in it.
Along the walkway there's this greenish artificial grass like throughout the stretch of wall together with picture of fresh fruits hanging to it. Good thing here is that it wasn't too bright nor dim and is just perfect if you need some alone time / reading session.
Each table contain an informative pamphlet explaining the benefit and nutrition information on highly recommended fruit. This could play as a suggestion card that aid you in making up your mind on what to order.
There is this TV at the very back of the shop showcasing the very best of Fresh Code, differentiating it from "just another fruit juice" that is widely available out there. Fresh Code applies the most advanced Technology – HPP, choosing the freshest seasonal fruits from the best origins, breaking the time and space limits, squeezing freshly in natural colors. Do drop by and check it out.
Now let's go to the drink, but one last thing before that, introducing Jackson (right) the owner from Foodirector.com and Alex (left) owner of Fresh Code.
According to Alex, their juices were squeezed and packed fresh and don't take their word just yet. These compressed juice had been sent for a test and had pass the freshness test with over 90% score.
We begin by sipping on a testing cup of high fiber pineapple juice. I must say that it does taste sweet and there's this 'meat' in it. By meat I do mean the pineapple leftover after the blend and it does taste good cause I get to chew on the rough texture.
Next up I ordered Berry Blast and Multifruit Vital. The Berry Blast is made of raspberry, blueberry, blackberry and strawberry and is said be energizing along side with the benefit on aiding eye sight, skin, and the brain. There's 2 cup size to choose from; regular or big and Berry Blast regular size cost RM11.90. The Multifruit Vital on the other hand contains Pineapple, Mango, Passion Fruit & Banana and is priced at RM10.90 on a regular cup. Personally I love the Berry Blast for its rough texture with all the berries chunk in it whereby Multifruit Vital is rather "waterish" to me. Do note that there's NO sugar added into the drink and apple juice is used to give that sweetness taste. They do deserve a round of applause for making consumer health their top priority.
Then there's this Mango Booster which I get to taste from other participant during the gathering which offered a thick texture and strong taste in it. The regular cup of Mango Booster is priced at RM7.90 each.
Just when everyone sipped away every last dip of the juice, we were in for yet another treat, and you guess it right, it was sorbet time!
Among the assorted flavor are Taiwan Irwin Mango, Taiwan Lychee, Pink Guava, Hawaiian Paradise, and Berry Bliss. There will be 2 new flavor coming soon and they are Calamansi Blast and Summer Breeze. Each scoop of sorbet is priced from RM5.90 and from RM9.90 for 2 scoop. The taste is closely similar to the taste in their juices / smoothies. These sorbet had an average texture with rich and refreshing taste to it. Personally I love the Pink Guava cause it gave me that sweet punch.
Trust me, these sorbet are the coolest and closet best dessert you should get to replace the unhealthy ice cream that you always crave for. After that we wrap things up and called it a successful gathering and is hoping to meet everyone else in another exciting gathering with Foodirector.com fans. Do check Fresh Code out if health is your priority and they can be contacted / found with details below

The Last Exorcism Part 2

Had a replacement screening of The Last Exorcism Part 2 at Cathay Cineplex e@Curve on Friday night instead of Monday night at GSC Mid Valley as scheduled. The distributor also throw in free pop corn and drink to go along with the horror movie
As Nell Sweetzer tries to build a new life after the events of the first movie, the evil force that once possessed her returns with an even more horrific plan.
To be honest, I don't recall part 1 to be as bad as this even though I couldn't remember much from it. But anyway it looked like a horny demon to me as it acted sexually toward the victim which it planned to take over. Several self pleasure scene appear throughout the movie and the demon would harm anyone who tried to stop it or fall in love with the host.
There really isn't much in this movie except for scream and more scream, and not forgetting the dark shadow figure which appear for no freaking reason.

The Call

The Call is a movie where action begin in the 911 operation room. Had gotten numerous invite to the movie and had chosen to goto GSC 1 Utama for an earlier screening and for "business" purpose.
The call has a pretty straight forward plot but it is dramatic to some extend. Probably Halle Berry who acted as the 911 operator did a good job in connecting not just to her victim in the movie, but also touched the heart of audience.
Trying hard to recover back from a tragedy few years back, Halle quit answering emergency call and headed on to be the instructor to new recruit. Still haunted by the mistake she had done in the past, tragic strike again, leaving her no choice but to face and aid yet another victim.
Good thing about The Call is where there weren't over many scene in the operation room and scene of the operator speaking to victim. There were on field action and investigation to keep thing at a pace, and let's not forgetting the process of a psycho kidnap.

[AFOOFA] Youth Credit Card

Still arguing on my YouthFlex thinking it is too plain and simple? Argue no more cause here's my 2nd entry to the Youth Credit Card design organised by Nuffnang, and this time round I'm gonna go straight to the point
The card is called AFOOFA short for All For One, One For All. Youth dislike carrying tons of stuff in their wallet / pocket especially when fashion (of saggy jean) come into picture and it would be a disturbance to them. Thus this is the one and only card for them where it would handle all the on and offline transaction, from shopping mall to e-commerce, it would reward them with unsuspecting surprises that is tied to the card.
Regardless of age, everyone love going on a vacation, and that explain why I make the beach view as the background image of the card. It would definitely give you a soothing and relaxing feel when you're look at the credit card.
Tag Cloud is another attraction on the card. Bank that issue the card could customise the wording in the tag cloud to indicate or to highlight the specialty of the credit card. The words is floating on the blue sky resembling the cloud also carry the meaning of AFOOFA since cloud storage is now also part of the hottest service every provider is fighting to gain account.

[YouthFlex] Youth Credit Card

Have you seen the latest video on Samsung Galaxy S4 where it showcase the highlighted features. One of the spotlight would be a snapping photo simultaneously from the front and rear camera. This has definitely give multitasking a whole new meaning.
Now no worry, I'm not off topic and am still in the right track. The reason why I brought this up is because multitask is one feature that every manufacturer claim their decide to perform at its best. It allow you to do few task / job at the same time without having to quick / close the app. This is what kept me thinking how can I do more with a credit card that is place in my wallet.
I would skip the futuristic credit card away on this post cause that would involve technical and structural design in order to have a card that would tell you your balance, or making call, or watching football live, and etc. Before I show you my actual card design, I want you to imagine and picture my design first. I will guide you through.
It would be handy regardless of gender. Note that I'm talking about the design of the card and not the feature .
It is made from a material where you can also find it used on some smartphone and tablet.
If have a clean and simple design. I wouldn't use the word blank or no design because the 'image' on the card will change every single time. So are you able to predict how my design is now?
This is my design, and I name it YouthFlex. It is glue to a layer of mirror screen protector where you can find it in shop that are selling mobile phone accessories. The holder face would be shown on the card when they're holding the card.
Beside that, youth can now use the card to quick fix their hair, make up touch up and etc just like what they would do with a mirror. The other usage by having this mirror protector is to create and educate youth to be financial responsible. Everytime their face is shown on the card, it would also act as a reminder that they will be spending some amount of cash on their purchase. It would allow them to think if that purchase is a necessity or just to kill the lust in them.

**Psst, the frame / border around the card wasn't intentional, but decided to add that in so that it look like a mirror. Since I have no knowledge in using those design software, figure that's the best way to convey my concept.

Ah Boys To Men: Part 2

Ah Boys To Men is back to the big screen not too long after its success release few months back. Actually it was already planned to break the movie into two part during production due to the lengthy storyline.
A continual from its previous title, Ah Boys to Men: Part 2 focuses mainly on the recruit after settling the family issue of a few particular recruit. It is said that part 1 of the movie is more humorous and part 2 would be more dramatic, which I don't quite agree. They were both hilarious the Singapore way with all the rhythmically mixture dialect.
There's nothing much to write about without spoiler to the plot. There is one thing that annoy me is where they tend to integrate CGI unnecessary in both series. No doubt it wasn't bad CGI judging from Asia CGI so far, they just overdone the whole thing without a real purpose. Likewise, every Singapore movie aim to convey all the positive message in a humor way through a hell of experience

Django Unchained

Was suppose to watch The Last Exorcism Part II at GSC Mid Valley on Monday night but due to unforeseen circumstances, the movie had to be postphoned to some other date which is yet to confirm. Thank God to Ivan Chan, my night was replaced with Django Unchained at GSC 1Utama instead
The movie is set back before civil war where Django is a slave to the white skin and were bought over by a bounty hunter who happen to be in fair white skin too for a mission / assignment. The plot quickly focus from slavery to the new lifestyle Django gain after gaining his freedom.
Beside Jamie Foxx, Leonardo Dicarprio too star in this movie which act as another attraction to the old school cowboy styled dramatic action movie. Beside slavery, there are other sensitive scene like racist, nude, violence and etc and it was a surprise to actually not only see this movie being air here in Malaysia but also uncensored too.
The long and draggy journey to safe Djangi wife offer nothing new nor impressive except for the part where brain were blown like minced meat. The interesting part is where Django had to figure out a way to buy back his wife legally from a richman. Beside that everything else were pretty naggy. Though many sauce gave it a high rate, it wasn't really my cup of tea. I'm not saying that it is bad, but instead too draggy.

Snitch

Like every premiere screening, there is always a clash between movie at the very same night on the very same time. I had invitation to Dead Man Down and Snitch. Went for Snitch because had some personal business to settle which could earn me some quick buck
The plot was inspired by true event and it begin with a teenager was sweet talked into a drug deal by none other than his best pal. Caught and detained, the son's father starring Dwayne Johnson look at every possible angle to get his sentence reduce to as minimum as possible.
With weird circumstances law in the state, the son refused to put innocent people into his position. The next thing you know, Dwayne was in a drug deal acting as federal informant as a deal to exchange for minimum sentence for his son.
There were many loophole in the plot and there were frequent of naggy moment in the movie too. Things gotten out of hand when the police decided to go for a bigger catch the night the drug deal take place. This cause not only Dwayne into trouble but also his family and the introducer, a ex-convict. If you're a big fan of The Rock, you may not want to miss this. The near 2 hours movie is not your typical action movie, but rather a drama first, action next type of genre.

Oz the Great and Powerful

A small-time magician arrives in an enchanted land and is forced to decide if he will be a good man or a great one. That is how Oz the Great and Powerful begin, and everything started off with black and white scene.
Courtesy of @NuffnangMY I get to watch the gala premiere in GSC Mid Valley. The movie starring James Franco and if you don't know who he is, he's the one acted in 127 hours, but this time with a different character here in Oz the Great and Powerful.
Most of the scene were taken in a studio with all green background as almost 100% of everything is computer animated. Graphics weren't disappointing but at the same time were not that great neither. Several flaw could be easily spotted especially when the actor / actress is interacting with the animated character.
There were also quite a number of old school comedy here and there hopefully could cure the dull moment which it didn't really work according to my preference. This is another witch based movie and seems that we might be getting alot of it soon after.
Plot wise was OK, or at least not disappointing. As a conclusion, I would say this is just an average movie with decent CG as to compare to others within the same genre. Nothing much to shout about
